Dress Code

SCHS has updated the dress code for the 2021-2022 school year. Please see the updated dress code below.

Students shall dress and groom in a clean, neat and modest manner so as not to distract or interfere with the operation of the school.  When a student is attired in a manner which is likely to cause disruption or interference with the operation of the school, the principal shall take appropriate action, which may include suspension.  Tennessee law prohibits students from wearing, while on the grounds of a public school during the regular school day, clothing that exposes underwear or body parts in an indecent manner that disrupts the learning environment.  Violations of individual school dress code policies shall be subject to disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct.  The following are merely guidelines for appropriate dress and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.  All dress code violations will be determined at the discretion of the administration.

-Skirts, or shirts worn with leggings, jeggings, yoga pants, athletic pants, etc.  MUST be knee length

-Skirts and dresses must be knee length

-NO shorts-NO EXCEPTIONS

-All clothing must be modest, appropriately fitted, and appropriate for school

-Any holes in jeans above the kneecap will be considered a dress code violation.  Holes above the kneecap must have patches or leggings.

-No visible tattoos-must be covered

-No facial piercings-clear spacers are permissible to wear

-No unnatural shades of hair coloring (must cause a distraction to be a problem)

-No sunglasses or caps in the building

-Sweat Pants must be size appropriate

-If masks are worn, they must be appropriate for school and follow all guidelines for dress code (no inappropriate language, images, etc.)
