The Smith County Board of Education considers vaping to be a substantial health and safety risk for students. Any student found in possession of a vaping device and such device contains an illegal substance, controlled substance, controlled substance analog, or legend drug shall be subject to zero tolerance as set forth by statute. Possession of a vaping device shall require a suspension of eleven (11)days for the first offence and thirty (30) days for any second or subsequent offences with an effective date of April 3, 2023.

For an offence to be considered a second or subsequent offence, it must occur within 365 days (1 year) of any prior offence.
