Mandatory Online Meeting for TN Promise

The Class of 2021 TN Promise mandatory meeting webinar is now live! TN Promise students must watch the 40-minute webinar by May 31, 2021 in order to maintain scholarship eligibility. Students can access the webinar here . It can viewed on a computer, tablet or mobile device. This webinar takes place of the in-person mandatory meeting typically hosted by tnAchieves in the spring. tnAchieves will send targeted text and email reminders to students and parents until May 31, or until we have record that the student has viewed the webinar. Prior to viewing the webinar students must activate their tnAchieves CONNECT account. CONNECT is our new virtual mentoring and student success platform. If you wish to facilitate an assembly for your TN Promise students to watch the webinar, please let me know! tnAchieves will provide a roster of current eligible students for you to use to take attendance. We ask that you scan the roster back to tnAchieves (amanda@tnachieves.org) via email in order for our team to upload attendance to our system.  If you choose to facilitate an assembly for your TN Promise students, we ask that your counseling team encourages students to activate or log into their CONNECT account once the webinar has concluded at https://www.tfaforms.com/4873092. It is important to note that in order to work with their TN Promise mentors, students must activate their CONNECT accounts. Students will also receive an email the day after viewing the webinar confirming that the mandatory meeting requirement has been met. The confirmation email will include the link to activate or log into tnAchieves CONNECT. Your TN Promise students and parents received one of the two emails below depending on whether the student has or has not yet activated their CONNECT account. If a student has not activated CONNECT, they received a direct link to activate their CONNECT account.  tnAchieves will be facilitating a CONNECT webinar for our K-12 partners this Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 12:30 PM ET/11:30 AM CT. #FindYourWhyTN Partners with #BecauseWeWill Campaign

In partnership with the #BecauseWeWill campaign, tnAchieves students can participate in an interactive social media campaign for a chance to win $1,000. 

#BecauseWeWill is an interactive social media campaign that intentionally raises public awareness and highlights the voices of hardworking students across the United States. Their strength and resolve in sharing their stories of resilience will help other learners find inspiration and perseverance. #BecauseWeWill directly aligns with #FindYourWhyTN, and tnAchieves is excited to share this opportunity with Tennessee students.  By sharing a personal story through a 3-minute video or a written submission of 600-800 words, students join a virtual community of peers, creating a network of support, bringing hope and practical insights to students facing similar circumstances. In their video or written submission, students should provide an introduction, speak to WHY they are going to college and what others can learn from their experiences. For more story suggestions, visit BecauseWeWill.org. To enter, students will visit BecauseWeWill.org and follow the prompts. Two $1,000 awards will be given to two students chosen by a panel of judges by the first week of April 2021.

Campaign details:

  • Students are encouraged to submit either a video story of up to 3 minutes, or a written story between 600-800 words.
  • Stories must be posted on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube) and include the hashtags #FindYourWhyTN and #BecauseWeWill. 
  • Once approved, the submissions will also be featured on the #BecauseWeWill website homepage social wall.
  • All submissions must be submitted on the website BecauseWeWill.org in order to be considered for the $1,000 awards.
  • Winners of the $1,000 awards will be chosen by a panel of judges. 
  • Award winners will be decided at the end of the campaign, by the first week of April 2021, and receive their awards via check.
  • Winners will be featured on a showreel and shared on social media.
