What's Happening

We want to welcome two new members to the UHS family.

  • Mrs. Melanie Jacobs comes from Smith County Middle School and will be our new Full-Time Sub. Mrs. Melanie has helped with UHS Extended Care Program for 2 years so she is a familiar face to some of us.

  • Ms. Emily Pugh is our new Guidance Counselor. Ms. Pugh will be here at UHS on Thursdays and Fridays and every other Wednesday all full days.

Important Dates:

Saturday, January 10th will start our County JV Tournament. Our JV boys will play at 5:00 pm at the Smith County High School Gym. They will take on the 5th Seed Smith County Middle School JV Boys.

The admission for all county tournament games will be $5 for everyone.

Monday, January 12th Before and After School care will start for this semester. Before school doors open at 6:45 am. Monday - Friday After school will start at 3:10 pm and go until 5:00 pm Monday - Thursday.

Tuesday, January 13th UHS final home game of the season against Carroll Oakland. We will honor our 8th Players on this night between the varsity girls game and varsity boys game. The JV boys game will start at 4:45 pm. Admission is $5; Smith County Students $1. Doors will open around 4:15ish. If you have children in the After School program you will need to pick them up at the side door .

Thursday, January 15th is National Hat Day. If your child would like to wear a hat to school that day to celebrate it is okay. All hats must be with in dress code.

Our varsity basketball teams will be traveling to Hermitage Springs. The varsity girls game will start at 6:00 pm and the varsity boys will follow after. There will be a bus to take the players to Hermitage Springs.

If our JV Boys win their County Tournament game they will play at the Smith County High School at 7pm.

Monday, January 19th school will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Tuesday, January 20th if we do not miss any days will be our 100th Day of School! More info on the celebration to come.

Thursday, January 22nd is picture day for classes, clubs, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 8th Grade Cap and Gowns, New Faculty/Staff and Students or Faculty/Staff and Students who were absent in the fall for pictures.

We will also be doing the Class Favorites and 8th Grade Superlative pictures that day.

Saturday, January 24th starts the Smith County Varsity Tournaments at Smith County High School. UHS Varsity Girls will play at 5:00 pm against Forks River Elementary. UHS Varsity Boys will play at 8:00 pm against Gordonsville.

The County Varsity Tournament will go until Saturday, January 31st.

The admission for all county tournament games will be $5 for everyone.
