SENIOR PICTURE REMINDERS: ~Senior tux/drape pictures-Sept. 8 & 9. ~Check for your scheduled time under Senior Formal picture schedule on classroom. ~If you are a virtual student you will need to be present during your scheduled time to ensure that you are included in the 2020-2021 Yearbook. ***Please wear the following for your picture: BOYS: Wear a white shirt, no writing or graphics on the shirt. GIRLS: Wear a spaghetti strap tank, but you must wear a shirt to cover straps during the school day. If you would like to wear a necklace in your drape picture please wear or bring it with you. Due to CDC guidelines, Inter-State Studio will not be bringing any jewelry with them.

All students attending Smith County Schools (traditional in-person learning) will return to school on Monday, August 31st full time, Monday-Friday. Virtual students will continue in the virtual learning program. Chrome books that have been issued to students are for student use at home and in-school for the remainder of the school year. There is no need to turn in chrome books on Monday when all students return to school. Students will continue using these. If you are here before 7:45, there are new waiting areas for students.

Due to weather concerns, Friday night's football game against Gordonsville High School has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 29, at 6:00 PM. Gates will open at 5:00 PM.

~Senior formal (tux/drape) pictures will be taken on Sept. 8 & 9. ~Each student has been scheduled a time to get their picture made. Due to CDC guidelines, only 2 students will be photographed at a time. ~It is the student’s responsibility to arrive on time for their scheduled time. ~If you are a virtual student you will need to be present during your scheduled time to ensure that you are included in the 2020-2021 Yearbook. ~A schedule of exact times has been posted on the Senior Grade Level Classroom.

Senior Formal Pictures will be on Tuesday, Sept. 8 & Wednesday, Sept. 9. A schedule will be posted at a later time.

Tickets for Friday night's football game against Gordonsville High School will be pre-sold at both SCHS and GHS this week. Tickets can be purchased for $7 from 8:30 - 2:30 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the SCHS library or GHS front office. A total of 1,500 tickets will be sold; if any tickets are remaining after the pre-sale period, they will be available for purchase at the ticket booth on Friday night.

Remember that we will be preselling tickets for the football game tonight against Macon County from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM at SCHS. Please enter the library door to purchase tickets. Tickets will be $7. We will also sell tickets at the gate starting at 5:30 PM until we reach 50% capacity. We will screen and check temperatures at the entrance. TSSAA requires facial coverings to be worn by all fans. We encourage all fans to bring their own facial coverings; however, masks will be available to those who may want one.

SCHS Before/After-school Program August 2020 The before/after-school program will offer a program beginning August 10, 2020. We will meet Monday through Friday mornings from 6:45-7:45 and Monday through Thursday afternoons from 3:00- 4:30. You will have a choice to apply for mornings, afternoons, or both. This program is offered to students in grades 9-12. Students participating in the morning program will: - receive homework help and tutoring, especially in Math and English - be allowed to get breakfast in the cafeteria as normal Students participating in the afternoon program will: -receive a nutritious snack -participate in Credit Recovery -practice math and computer skills -get homework help -engage in healthy activities/exercise -interact socially If you are interested, you may register your student on the SCHS Website. There in an enrollment form and student/parent handbook. A Parent Orientation meeting will be scheduled as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. This is a fun, but serious, learning experience for students. We are excited to begin our year and feel it is a great opportunity offered to our students. All SCHS students should be learning remotely for today and yesterday. All students have assignments in Google classroom. Please be sure to complete your work. If you have questions or issues, email your teacher to help resolve these.

Due to information from local law enforcement, SCHS is in a shelter in place for safety measures.

If you receive an absentee phone call today and your child is enrolled in the virtual academy or is remote learning today, please disregard. We are working to resolve some issues with our student management system.

The Smith County Board of Education will hold a Special Called Board Meeting titled Continued COVID 19 Update at the Smith County Board of Education, 126 S.C.M.S. Lane, Carthage, Tennessee, on Monday, August 3, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.

Students enrolled in the virtual option in need of a chromebook will need to come by school Friday, July 31 or Thursday, August 6 to pick these up and complete the technology agreement. You may come by school between 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. This is for ONLY for the students who have already turned in the virtual contract. New student registration will be available by appointment only on Friday, July 31, and Thursday, August 6. Documents needed for registration include social security card, proof of residence, birth certificate, and custody papers (if applicable).

Students and parents, remember that applications to attend school virtually through Odysseyware must be completed and returned to SCHS by Friday, July 24. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

If any parent plans on homeschooling their child this school year, please email Mrs. Olivia Bush at obush@smithcoedu.net to discuss withdrawing your child from SCHS and to ensure the homeschool of your choice is accredited so that if you decide to reenroll your child, they can receive credits from their homeschool work.
