School Calendar Update: Smith County Schools will now be in session on Thursday, May 23, 2024, which was previously scheduled to be an administrative day for employees. This change has been made since the school closure on March 15 was not attributed to inclement weather or student and staff illness. Rather than extend the school day for approximately two and a half weeks or attend school on a Saturday, the decision was made to convert the existing administrative day to a student attendance day. Teachers across the district plan to use this day to celebrate students for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year, and many have already begun planning games and activities for students to enjoy. The half-day on May 24 will remain unchanged for students.
