The Smith County Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The agenda is attached.

Due to forecasted high winds and the threat of inclement weather, Smith County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Congratulations to Gordonsville High School on their advancement to the semifinal round of the TSSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament, which will be held tomorrow, Friday, March 15, 2024, in Murfreesboro. Smith County Schools will be closed tomorrow, March 15, 2024, to allow all students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to attend the game.

Parents and School Employees: Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5th is a professional development day for all school employees. There is no school for students tomorrow.

Congratulations to the Smith County High School Lady Owls on their advancement to the TSSAA State Basketball Tournament which will be held mid-day on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Murfreesboro. We anticipate high numbers of staff and student absences to attend the game. This coupled with a continued high number of illnesses among staff and students causing staffing issues in addition to school personnel who will be absent from attending the game, it is in the best interest of the school system to close on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

Due to the high volume of illness-related student absences, Smith County Schools will be closed tomorrow and Friday, February 15th and 16th 2024. Students will return to school on Tuesday, February 20th 2024.

Smith County School District will be holding a District Wide Title 1 Family Night, February 5, 2024 at the Smith County High School Gym. Informational sessions will be held at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30. Topics will include Curriculum, Data, Learning at each Title 1 School, District plan and goals, District needs assessment, and Family/Community Engagement. https://shorturl.at/GX489

Due to the 8 snow days we have had recently, the grading terms will be adjusted as follows: Term 3 Mid-9 reports: February 12 End of Term 3: March 14 Term 3 Report Cards: March 21 Term 4 Mid-9 reports will remain on April 16 - no change.

Smith County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, due to icy road conditions on some of the back roads.

Smith County Schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday, January 22 and 23, 2024.

Due to weather conditions and sickness, Smith County Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 16 through Friday, January 19, 2024.

The Smith County School Board Meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

All of the Gordonsville bus routes will be delayed this afternoon due to the traffic from I40 being shutdown most of the day. Please be patient. Bus 68 in the town of Gordonsville will be affected the most. Carthage bus routes may also be late due to traffic on Hwy. 70 but not as late as the Gordonsville routes.

Summer learning camp starts tomorrow, June 6, 2023, at 8:00am at SCMS. Parents are welcome to attend a short orientation in the morning, and students will be dismissed at 3:00. Buses will pick up from 7:20-7:30 at all schools, Pleasant Shade Community Center (the old school ), and the Dixon Springs stage coach store.
